Music with Jessamy

See flute lessons from a student’s point of view:

I started having flute lessons with Jessamy in April 2023 after not having had lessons for several years, and having just picked my flute back up again. I came along so anxious, but I can honestly say that I haven’t looked back since.

I have learnt so much from Jessamy, not only in terms of technique, but also tone and overall performance. I undoubtedly could not have passed my diploma without her, both in terms of playing, and in giving me the confidence to actually take the exam. She always encourages you to bring the music to life, which she demonstrates beautifully.

Lessons are relaxed but always with a focus, meaning that I always have something to work on and improve. Jessamy is kind and patient, and has a genuine interest in her pupils’ musical development.

Starting flute lessons again, with Jessamy, was one of the best things I have done, and she has helped me find my love for the flute again.

To find a flute teacher in London is easy but to find one who clearly loves playing and teaching the flute is not so easy. It is obvious with Jessamy that she loves, lives and breathes the flute.

All you have to do is listen to her play to be both inspired and motivated.  It is also so nice to have a teacher who plays with such a beautiful sound so as to be able to try to model ones own sound too during lessons.

Jessamy has been teaching me for a number of years and I would recommend her for a number of reasons.

As an adult student I have found her teaching style to be exactly what I need.  Jessamy is a very kind and caring teacher who is patient and knowledgeable. I find her lessons are a really nice blend of technique and the playing of pieces. She also knows how to ensure that lessons are kept fun.

Jessamy has an excellent knowledge of the flute to be able to help me through parts that I feel I will never be able to play but then eventually can. Her ability to motivate and push me on to playing more has been greatly appreciated.

She demonstrates professionalism in her conduct as a teacher and the lessons always have good direction and guidance.  At the end of each lesson I always feel I have been taught a great deal  and have  moved on in my learning, and at the same time I always feel the lesson has been fun. She has a wealth of knowledge about flute playing and is able to impart so many tips, tricks and advice on how to make playing the flute easier.

Most importantly every time a lesson with her has ended I always find I am already looking forward to the next one and trying to put what she has taught me into practice.
